Upholstery 101 - 11/2

Upholstery 101 - 11/2

Join us on Saturday, November 2nd from 10-1pm for an introductory upholstery clinic where you'll transform your own furniture piece with guidance from veteran seamstress Peggy Kujawski. This hands-on class will teach you the basics of upcycling furniture through upholstery.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

Project Approach: Understand how to evaluate upholstery projects, assess their complexity, and plan an effective workflow.

Material Selection: Learn how to choose the right fabrics, padding, and other materials to ensure comfort, durability, and aesthetic appeal.

Tool Mastery: Familiarize yourself with the essential tools used in upholstery for precision and efficiency. Students are required to bring their own tools; a list will be provided once a photo of your project is submitted. Available tools include pneumatic staplers, or you can bring your own needle-nose pliers, staple removers, flathead screwdrivers, scissors, or staplegun.

Furniture Requirements: The furniture piece you bring must be approved in advance and cannot require any sewing. Submit a photo (top and bottom) of your project by October 30th to brooke@brookelane.com for approval. This allows Peggy to offer personalized advice and ensure the project is suitable for the clinic.

A guide with online resources and materials will be provided. Upholstery-weight fabric will also be available for purchase at wholesale prices.

Don't miss the chance to learn from Peggy, an expert upholsterer! Space is limited—reserve your spot today and take the first step toward mastering upholstery.
